We, the Groundwater Protection and Waste Disposal department, make up about a tenth of the nearly 250 staff members.
We are a team of scientists and engineers with an assortment of academic degrees and mother tongues. We organize ourselves flexibly in work groups to make the most of everyone’s knowledge, experience and communication skills for any specific project. The result is a good track record for meeting clients’ goals efficiently and on time. In addition we have earned ourselves a good reputation as a local and international partner.

The objects of our interest tend to be found below ground level. Groundwater takes an exclusive place in this. We investigate various forms of its utilization, assess potential risks and hazards, and conceptualize protective measures.
Our preferred approach is guided by a healthy mixture of experience, curiosity and our fondness of numerical modelling. We may cover all the necessary steps from borehole testing to the characterization of the hydrogeological domain, numerical simulations, special analyses of the results and detailed interpretations. Depending on the issues we either write our own codes or apply conventional software. This combination of process understanding and modelling flexibility is our solid base for the most complex of tasks such as the safety analyses for deep geological repositories for radioactive waste.
We take pride in the comprehensive and attractive presentation of our results. In addition to reports written in English, German or French, we produce animations and interactive web-based applications. We even assist our clients in conveying the project to third parties or to the public.
We are just as happy to serve clients from Switzerland or abroad, public or private. Our references include power producers, utilities, government offices, planning agencies etc. For licensing projects our independent services are equally suitable to support either the applicant or the authority.
