Pensioners' activities in 2010 (German pdf) September's Grand Excursion, including a Guided Tour through Biketec Ltd in Huttwil September 16, 2010
Each September, two tour busses parked waiting on the Parkstrasse in Baden, CH, mark the start of the grand excursion of the Motor-Columbus /AF-Consult Switzerland pensioners club. This year, the 68 vibrant day trippers were invited first to coffee and croissants in Willisau and then chauffeured further to the electric bike company Biketec Ltd in neighbouring Huttwil. The informative guided tour through the production hall inspired several of the retirees to test out the Flyer electric bike. Fitness for seniors can work wonders. It can improve circulation, reduce the risk of diabetes and lead to a fitter body and mind. The tour then continued on to the farmstead Schaufelbühl, where Hans and Therese Bigler served their guests a delectable midday meal in true Emmentaler hospitality. During the drive, Kurt Reinhard und Benno Kolb presented the travelling group with news and information concerning AF-Consult Switzerland, ALPIQ, the pension fund (PKE) and the Foundation of Motor-Columbus Ltd (formerly Wohlfahrtsfonds). An afternoon coffee stop at the Restaurant Seeblick (Lakeview), overlooking the Burgäschisee, was filled with lively discussions about electric bikes and all the latest news, and rounded out an enjoyable day. Many thanks go out to Dieter Eger who organised the event. Susanne Richei Small Excursion

The traditional pensioners' barbecue takes place annually in May. This year, the 41 gathered were greeted at the MC tennis clubhouse in Dättwil in cooler temperatures by Kurt Reinhard, the president of the retiree committee. The oldest of the participants celebrated his 90th birthday this past February and three "rookies" took part for the first time in a pensioners' event. During the apéritif, Kurt Reinhard informed the group, in his amiable manner, of the activities of the Foundation of Motor-Columbus Ltd, AF-Consult Switzerland Ltd, and the newest from the Retirement Fund PKE annual report. In the meantime, the coals in the barbecue were ready for the sausages, steaks and whatever other tantalizing cut was brought along by the abundant grill masters. Stimulating conversations began over the open fire and carried on into the evening topped only by the obligatory black forest cake and coffee that was later served. Through the efforts of all the members of the pension committee, the tables were plentifully decked with flowers, snacks, bread rolls and refreshments. At the end of the evening, after the kitchen and clubhouse were tidied up, the memories of a delightful gathering remained. The short, afternoon excursion will take place on June 17th, 2010 and the full day autumn excursion on September 16th, 2010.
